What does "cage free" mean?
Just that, we do not cage your dog at night for boarding like other boarding facilities. Pups in our care move seamlessly from open play rooms to open boarding rooms. Sure, we have a few crates around. But those are for the boarders who are crate trained at home and need to continue that while they're with us. Our belief is we want your pup to have an experience as close to the one they would have as if they were staying at your home which mean no cages, lots of interaction and stress free fun.
What's a Temperament Test and why does my pup have to pass?
A Temperament Test, we use the SAFERTM methodology developed in conjunction with the ASPCA, gives us a quick snapshot into a pups behaviors and disposition. Since we're a cage-free facility it is important that all the pups in daycare and boarding get along, play well with others and are able to thrive throughout the day. It's for everyone's safety and well being.
My dog likes to sleep with people at night, not just dogs, do you do that?
Oh ya, that's one of the perks of our place! Boarding with us includes extended daycare and then the pups sleeping sound at night in a murphy bed with one of our qualified dog handlers, on day beds or blankets on the floor (whatever they prefer) while being supervised 24/7. Pup will snooze the night away in a soundproofed room then get up for breakfast and another exciting day of daycare, excercise and socializing.
Do you have a scheduled nap time?
No. Most dogs self regulate, which means when the dogs are tired, they lay down and nap. Our handlers are experienced in knowing the stress signs in dogs and if we find that a dog is not self regulating, we will give them time in a quiet space with relaxing music and less stimulation to give them a break.
Do you require a reservation for daycare or boarding?
Yes! For Daycare we have a tendancy to book up so its best to call the day before or have a regular standing appointment. For boarding, reservations are a must since we fill up fast. During peak seasons... Thanksgiving, Christmas/New Years, Spring Break we are usually booked a month in advance, so call early.
Do you accept puppies?
You betcha! They need to be 4 months old and have completed their full puppy vaccinations. If your pup is 6 months old they need to be spayed or neutered to participate in daycare or boarding and be cleared by their vet for this level of socialization and exercise first.
You say you are an eco-friendly facility, what does that mean?
From our initial build using recycled materials to the installation of recycled rubber floors, recycled wool insulation and very cool indoor potty zone made with reclaimed trees for grass, to the low VOC paints, and not printing receipts for everything to the non-toxic chemicals and all natural grooming supplies and corn-based biodegradable poop bags we use we do everything we can to help Mother Earth out. Heck, we even recycle our air and clean it again before bringing more in! And we're always looking for ways to reduce our footprint!
